This Policy describes the types of information that we may collect from you or that you may provide to us when you visit the Website MedGift.com (our "Website") and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting and disclosing that information. Please read this Policy carefully to understand our practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our practices, your choice is not to use our Website. By visiting our Website, submitting information, making a donation or using any of our services, you acknowledge that you accept the practices outlined herein.
MedGift provides an online registry for patients and creates an online community through
social media capabilities. Our Website is intended to provide these opportunities without
requiring you to submit more personally identifiable information ("PII")
than is necessary
to use the Website effectively. You can choose not to provide us with certain PII, but then
you may not be able to take advantage of all of the services and products offered on our
We collect several types of information about users of our Website, including:
We collect this information directly from you when you provide it to us and automatically as you navigate through the Website.
The information that we collect about you depends upon whether you are simply a visitor to our Website ("Visitor"), someone who creates an account ("Account Owner"), a support page organizer ("Organizer"), a beneficiary of a support page ("Beneficiary"), or a contributor to someone else's support page ("Contributor"). However, please note that more than one of these categories may be applicable to your use of our Website. Therefore, please review all of the following categories to understand what information we collect from you based upon your use of our Website.
MedGift utilizes Google Analytics http://www.google.com/analytics/ and StatCounter http://statcounter.com/ to anonymously track Visitors and understand how they interact with our Website. No PII is collected by these services. The only information collected that is related to the Visitor is their IP addresses, which is used for the sole purpose of determining the geographical locale in which Visitor's device is located. These services place a small cookie on the Visitor's device, which contains a unique identifier that allows the service to distinguish new from repeating Visitors. This data is used in the aggregate, that is, as a statistical measure, and not in a manner that is intended to identify you personally. We use this information to better understand how many Visitors we have, how they found our Website and how they use it. This information is important if we are to better understand the needs of our market, expand and improve our services, and improve the utility of our Website. We reserve the right to share this information with third parties at any time.
To start a support page, access and sign-up for calendar events, or leave notes on a support page, Account Owners must authenticate themselves to MedGift. Information provided for authentication is collected to minimize the creation of fraudulent support pages or disingenuous uses of the note posting and calendar services. Information collected during account creation includes first name, last name, e-mail address and user-specific password. If account creation is performed through a social log-in service, similar information is collected.
In addition to the information collected during account creation, if you are an Organizer or Beneficiary of a support page, your address and telephone number are collected during support page creation. We collect this information in case we need to communicate with you regarding your support page.
There are three primary ways in which someone may contribute to a support page:
The only information that we collect from financial donors is their first and last names and their e-mail addresses. This information is collected so we can provide a list of donors to the support page's Organizer and Beneficiary so that they can send thank-you e-mails to donors. PII necessary for the purposes of making a donation via a credit card is collected by our financial services partner WePay (https://www.wepay.com/) and protected by its policies.
You also may contribute to a support page by leaving well-wishes and other notes of encouragement. To minimize the occurrence of disingenuous notes being posted, MedGift requires those wishing to leave a note to be authenticated either by first signing into Facebook or creating an account on MedGift. Please see Section 2 of this Part A with respect to the information that we collect during account creation.
If you wish to view a calendar, you must create a MedGift account and be approved by the Organizer. This information is collected to ensure that only individuals approved by the Organizer have access to the calendar. When requesting permission to access a calendar, MedGift collects the potential Contributor's telephone number and gender. This information is collected to facilitate management of the calendar by the Organizer and to optionally limit calendar access to events that are gender-specific. Section 2 of this Part A describes the information that we collect during account creation.
Your activity on our Website may generate automatic or responsive e-mails. When you send an e-mail to MedGift, we may retain your e-mail address and the contents of the e-mail that you sent.

Generally, MedGift does not share your PII with third parties, except when required to do so by law. However, we reserve the right to give, share, sell or trade your PII to or with any third parties, including, without limitation, under the following circumstances.
We may retain other companies and individuals to perform certain functions on our behalf. Such third parties may be provided with access to PII or other information reasonably necessary to perform their functions.

We may also exchange information, including PII, with other companies and organizations for credit fraud protection, risk reduction and related activities or to protect the rights, property or safety of MedGift, its agents, employees, affiliates or others. In addition, MedGift reserves the right to disclose the PII of a user who we believe is in violation of our Policy or other terms of service as posted on our Website, even without a subpoena, warrant, court order or other governmental request.
In the event of a sale, merger, liquidation, dissolution or sale or transfer of assets of MedGift, PII and other information collected about you from the Website may be sold, assigned or transferred to the party acquiring MedGift, its assets or the Webite in order to permit the party to continue the operation of MedGift and/or the Website or any successor of either.
